The Texas Society of Sports Medicine

 

The Texas Society of Sports Medicine (TSSM) is a statewide organization of orthopaedic surgeons specializing in sports medicine, team physicians, athletic trainers, coaches and physician assistants.  TSSM members work closely with many other sports medicine specialists and clinicians to improve the identification, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries.

The TSSM works in concert with the Texas Orthopaedic Association (TOA), the Southwest Athletic Trainers’ Association (SWATA) and other sports medicine societies nationwide.  The Society continues to sponsor college scholarships administered by the SWATA.

The Texas Society of Sports Medicine is proud to announce the availablility of the two hour symposium entitled “Sports Related Concussion & Mild TBI: Developments in Treatment & Management” given by Summer Ott, PsyD; David Braunreiter, MD; Theron Enns, ATC; and Scott Rand, MD.  The 2 hour online course includes information on identifying suspected concussions, pre- and post-injury assessments, and managing concussions and meets the requirements of HB 2038, passed during the 2011 legislative session.

Physicians can earn 2.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ by participating online at OrthopaedicCME.org. A Certificate is provided upon the successful completion of the CME course. This site is also available to athletic trainers, physical therapists, coaches and other concussion oversight team members wishing to learn more about concussions.
